Cookie Time is New Zealand's best cookie maker. From humble beginnings over twenty years ago when founder Michael Mayell with help from his mother and a "borrowed " baker, baked 5,000 cookies for a week's supply. Today, Cookie Time bake in excess of 500,000 cookies a week and they're consumed from Kaitaia to Bluff, throughout New Zealand.
Solution
Using SalesLink Mobile software, orders are electronically produced on Kyocera Smartphones and sent back to Cookie Time's headquarters in Christchurch. All 45 franchisees carry HP printers in their vans and orders are printed out on the spot, as the cookies supplied.
Return on Investment
From the franchisee perspective, hours of manual paperwork were eliminated and they were able to increase their sales by being able to call on more customers. At head office, Cookie Time had instantaneous information. This was a massive help in setting Cookie Time's production cycles to consumer demand. Cookie Time were able to collate sales and analyse by area by promotion and by season what products were being sold.

Cookie Time are coming up to their third year of using SalesLink. In January 2005 we talked to their I.T. Manager Chris White. Cookie Time Limited is New Zealand's leading cookie brand and has a nationwide distribution network of 45 franchise distributors. Cookie Time sell into supermarkets, 24 hr operations such as dairies and service stations as well as a wide variety of retailers throughout New Zealand.

Cookie Time grew from a hand on operation in the 1980’s to being a nationwide operator by the 2000’s. The growing pains were obvious – "We didn’t load a lot of the information because it was so labour intensive – so we had very limited sales analysis. Business Operation
Cookie time went to the market to find a solution that would meet the requirements of both their franchisees and their own internal requirements. They asked the two major providers to pitch. They settled on a Koyocera smartphone solution using HP printers in their franchisee’s vans.
